After almost a year off-screen, Chicago Fire fans were thrilled to discover that Katelynn Shennett — who plays Kylie Estevez — is officially back on set.
The actress surprised viewers by posting a series of Instagram Stories, including a smiling trailer selfie captioned, “The feeling when you’re back on set with all your friends,” plus a peek at her dressing-room door and a cozy post-shoot cuddle with her dog.
Shennett, who first joined the series in 2020 and appeared in 44 episodes, was written out earlier this year. Her last performance as Kylie aired in February 2025. While it’s still unclear how big her return storyline will be, fans can expect to see her again when Chicago Fire resumes its season on January 7, 2026.
Her comeback follows a wave of cast changes heading into season 14, but it’s a welcome return for viewers who’ve missed Kylie’s dynamic with Firehouse 51 — especially her partnership with Herrmann.
