Chicago Fire has unveiled a first look at Taylor Kinney’s return as Lieutenant Kelly Severide.
The actor stepped away from the show earlier this year due to a personal matter, though last month it was confirmed that he would be coming back into the fold in season 12.
A new teaser for the upcoming seasons of the various Chicago shows has now been released, which features a brief glimpse of Severide.
“I’m here. We’re in this together,” he tells wife Stella, before kissing her.
The last fans saw of Severide, he went to undertake “the best arson investigation training program in the world”, though the character is expected to return in a full-time capacity.
While Kinney is coming back, Chicago Fire is set to lose two cast members in season 12, with Alberto Rosende and Kara Killmer set to depart as Blake Gallo and Sylvie Brett, respectively.
The Chicago universe shows were affected by the recent Hollywood strikes, though have since returned to filming.
Speaking upon Chicago Fire’s renewal for season 12, creator Dick Wolf said: “I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC.
“All six shows [including the Law & Order franchise] being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers.
“I’d also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons.”
Lisa Katz, president of scripted programming at NBCUniversal and Streaming, added: “We understand the emotional connection our audience has with these characters and we can’t wait to bring more of their stories to the forefront next season.
“A huge thank you to Dick and his amazing team who are the masters of producing incredibly compelling television week after week.”
