A staple of Wednesday nights on NBC has been the One Chicago lineup for a decade now. It all started with Chicago Fire, then came Chicago P.D. a year later, and two years after that, Chicago Med. (Chicago Justice, sadly, didn’t last.) And that won’t be changing for the 2025-2026 season.
NBC has rolled out its fall 2025 schedule, and all three One Chicago shows are back in their usual time slots. Read on for everything we know about the upcoming season of the first responder show that started the franchise, including the cast shake-ups (hardly the first), a Season 24 premiere date, and more.
Is Chicago Fire renewed for Season 14?
Yes, NBC renewed the drama on Monday, May 5.
When will Chicago Fire Season 14 premiere?
It will be part of NBC’s fall 2025 lineup, meaning a late September or early October premiere. It will once again air Wednesdays at 9/8c, between Med and P.D.
Who’s leaving Chicago Fire after Season 13?
Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett, who play firefighters Darren Ritter and Sam Carver, respectively, will be leaving at the end of Season 13. Kyri debuted in Season 7, while Lockett first came in in Season 11. Both characters are on Tuck, led by Lieutenant Stella Kidd, which means new characters will have to come in or there will have to be some moves and shifts around 51.

Who will be in the Chicago Fire Season 14 cast?
Chicago Fire stars Taylor Kinney (as Lt. Kelly Severide), David Eigenberg (as Captain Christopher Herrmann), Miranda Rae Mayo (as Lt. Stella Kidd), Dermot Mulroney (as Chief Dom Pascal), Christian Stolte (as Randy “Mouch” McHolland), Joe Minoso (as Joe Cruz), Hanako Greensmith (as Violet Mikami), Jocelyn Hudon (as Lizzy Novak), Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter), and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver). So far, we haven’t heard of any exits beyond Kyri and Lockett, so the rest of the cast should be back for Season 14.
Showrunner Andrea Newman also told TV Insider she hopes to have Kyri and Lockett back in some capacity in Season 14.
How did Chicago Fire Season 13 end?
The finale did not reveal how either Carver or Ritter will be written out. Carver is planning to leave Chicago, but he and his ex-girlfriend Violet also seemed to be taking steps to getting back together. Kidd also revealed to Severide that she’s pregnant, and Herrmann not only decided not to go for chief, but also stepped down as an officer and is back to being a regular firefighter so Mouch can be lieutenant on engine.
What will happen in Chicago Fire Season 14?
There will be a time jump, but how long was still to be determined, showrunner Andrea Newman told TV Insider after the finale.
“What we want is that idea that parents who are first responders face, which is the stakes go so high. You think they’re high now when you’re married to the person in a firehouse, what if you’re both trapped in a fire together and realizing you’re going to leave your child orphan essentially, which is what happened to Kidd when she was young. So it’s a big fear of hers,” she shared. “It’s a way to really just amp everything up for these two and test this relationship in all new ways while keeping them in love and sexy and all the things we like about them together. But yeah, parenthood, that’s going to shake it up for sure.”
With Herrmann no longer going for chief, it does sound like Pascal is staying, at least for now. “We’ll see [Mulroney] in Season 14, for sure,” said Newman.
There are definitely changes ahead, she also warned. “We wanted to play because it’s very true to what’s happening now in the world, this auditor coming in and saying, ‘Look, CFD is cleaning house, and things are going to get shaken up,’ and there’s nobody safe in this shakeup. So next season is going to be about how the s**t really hits the fan once that mandate comes down and how things get shaken up and how our team can hold together as a family while all this craziness is happening around them,” she explained.
Season 14 is “going to be very much about how the change affects everybody, not just from the top, but going down below, too,” she added. “Next season’s going to be all about shakeups and how everybody reacts and new people and comings and goings.”
Is there a Chicago Fire Season 14 trailer?

What’s the status of the other One Chicago shows?
