Chicago Fire Season 14 is full of cast shake-ups — and now, a surprising return. Despite losing longtime members Sam Carver and Darren Ritter this year, Firehouse 51 is welcoming back a familiar face: Kylie Estevez.
Actor Katelynn Shennett revealed on Instagram that she’s reprising her role in an upcoming episode. While she’s not in firefighter gear in the photos, her return is notable: Kylie officially became a firefighter during her last major storyline but hasn’t appeared since Season 13, Episode 12. At the time, she stepped in to help with staffing shortages before quietly disappearing from the show once Jack Damon was reinstated.
Kylie’s former assignment was Engine 51 — the same team now rumored to be at risk of decommissioning, according to the Season 14 fall finale. Her reappearance, even if just for one episode, could hint that the department is reconsidering that plan.
Although the reason for her comeback is still unclear, her sudden return suggests something important is brewing at Firehouse 51. And for longtime fans, seeing Kylie again is a welcome surprise.
