Chicago Fire Season 13’s Premiere Sets Up A More Difficult Fate For Severide & Kidd’s Marriage
Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd can’t seem to catch a break in Chicago Fire as the season 13 premiere foreshadows trouble ahead for the couple. Severide and Kidd appear to be very much in love and in a stable relationship. However, little hints here and there suggest that happiness won’t last for long. Perhaps season 13 of the One Chicago TV show will finally be the season where Severide and Kidd’s marriage comes to an end after years of ups and downs.
The Chicago Fire season 13 premiere picks up about six months after the events of the season 12 finale. It’s Boden’s Chicago Fire replacement’s (Dermot Mulroney’s Dom Pascal) first day on the job, and Sam Carver’s first day back at work following his furlough. Everyone reacts differently to Pascal and the changes he brings to Firehouse 51. While Kidd is quite skeptical of the new chief, Severide is more willing to give Pascal a chance. That is until Pascal reminds Severide about one of the Chicago Fire Department’s important rules.
Pascal Condemns Family Working Together At Firehouse 51
Pascal Confronts Severide About The Family Rule
After Pascal and Severide’s briefing about the previous fire, the new chief brings one of his concerns to Severide’s attention in the Chicago Fire season 13 premiere. Pascal informs him of the CFD’s general orders mandate that states “immediate family members should not work the same firehouse in the same shift,” alluding to Severide and Kidd’s status as husband and wife. It’s evident that Pascal agrees with the rule. However, he’s willing to continue allowing Severide and Kidd to work side by side because they have done so for many years and are capable of handling it.
Of course, this conversation between Severide and Pascal will lead to conflict because the new chief is unaware that Severide and Jack Damon are half-brothers in Chicago Fire. Severide knows that if he tells Pascal that they are related, he will transfer Damon to another firehouse. So, that will undoubtedly cause some drama down the line. As for Severide and Kidd, Pascal is giving them a pass for now, but a future fire call may change the new chief’s mind.
Will Chicago Fire Season 13 Finally Be The End Of Severide & Kidd’s Relationship?
Severide & Kidd Have Had Many Problems In Recent Seasons
If the couple is separated and forced to work different shifts, that might be the end of Severide and Kidd’s marriage in Chicago Fire season 13. Viewers saw how being apart affected their relationship when Severide was away at an OFI training camp. Severide’s lies (or admission of the truth) certainly didn’t help. However, distance certainly doesn’t make the heart grow fonder for Severide and Kidd.
Maybe Severide and Kidd will get away with working together, and Pascal’s warning is only foreshadowing conflict concerning Damon. Combined with the preceding factors and struggles in Severide and Kidd’s relationship, though, Pascal’s rule could easily affect the couple. Only time will tell if the two characters’ marriage pulls through or drowns in Chicago Fire season 13.
