The last Tuesday of August 2024 is not disappointing when it comes to DVD and Digital releases. There are plenty of shows and movies to look out for, with something covering all interests.
We’re getting to the end of summer, which is important for broadcast fans. This is the time that the TV shows are released on DVD, and we certainly see that this week. Most of these shows already have episodes available on Digital.
There are also some big movie releases happening. Some of the Digital releases will come out on Friday, Aug. 30 instead of on Tuesday, which is the case for a lot of theatrical releases being made available to rent on Digital.
Chicago Fire Season 12, The Watchers, and more
Let’s start with something for the broadcast fans. Chicago Fire Season 12 is one of the big DVD releases this week. The 12th season sees some big changes to the cast, starting with the exit of Alberto Rosande and then seeing the loss of Kara Kilmer. It’s the ending that is the biggest loss of the series, but there are some exciting hopes for the future of the show.
This season introduces some new firefighters at the same time. Not all of them stick around, and one of them has an intriguing secret that will completely change things for Severide.
Do you love science fiction? How about comedies that involve aliens? Resident Alien is a great series, and the third season will get its DVD release this week. This is a must-watch, especially for Alan Tudyk fans. One of the best things about the series is that it focuses a lot on personal relationships.
The third season picks up with D’Arcy learning that Harry is an alien. Now she wants to be a part of the mission to save Earth from the Grey aliens.
Do you prefer a bit of horror? Look out for the release of the movie The Watchers. Dakota Fanning stars as a woman who ends up in a mysterious wood. To escape the monsters that come out at night, she’s pulled into a cabin. Now she and other strangers find themselves trapped there while the monsters take over outside when it gets dark. Is there any way to get out?
There are a couple of big releases on Digital at the end of the week. Trap and Borderlands both get Digital releases, meaning you can watch them at home.
