Season 13 of Chicago Fire is heating up! In Episode 3, Chief Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) told a team member, “You’ve broken my trust, I’m dismissing you from this firehouse.” The latest Chicago Fire preview hints that perhaps Violet will get fired next.
In Season 13 Episode 3, Pascal told Damon he’s going back into the floater pool because he hadn’t been following Kidd’s leadership on calls. Damon was cut from Firehouse 51 and, based on the upcoming episode promo, Paramedic in Charge Violet Mikami’s (Hanako Greensmith) job could also be in danger.
The synopsis for Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 4, titled “Through the Skin,” explains: “Violet risks her job to deliver a baby on a tragic call; Mouch, Capp and Tony help Cruz track down Javi’s stolen bike; Damon’s departure weighs on Severide.”
In the preview, Violet states, “I can do a C-section, but if this doesn’t work…” as she slices into an 8 month pregnant woman’s stomach. The promo cuts to Violet getting the devastating news: “Your EMS license is suspended.”
She asks Pascal, “What do you think is going to happen to me?”
It’s unclear what will happen with Violet, but fans are sure she has a case for her actions, given the emergency situation. One fan noted in the preview’s comments, “Total horses**t. Violet did what she HAD to do to save the life of a mother and a baby, based on the brief clip here.”
Another fan explained, “I think based on the synopsis saying that Violet has to help give birth during a tragic call, I think it ends tragically for the mom and Violet’s license gets suspended by Chief Robinson likely for having done an emergency C-section on the field. And while she saved the baby, I think the mom would later succumb to complications both from her pregnancy and the emergency C-section. And to add to that, Violet isn’t supposed to do that as a paramedic since it’s something only a doctor or surgeon could do in a OR.”
With the clip revealing the return of Chief Robinson, there’s chatter that she’s “always had it out for 51 since they don’t always play by the rules.” One fan stated they “knew Robinson would be back and out for blood.”
Others believe that Pascal could step up and save Violet’s job. Fans definitely hope she’s not going anywhere, with one noting, “I don’t wanna see Violet get let go.”
Others expressed confusion about why Violet would be in trouble. “I don’t understand why Violet is getting her license revoked for simply saving a mother and baby wtf,” one fan said. Another explained, “I think it has something to do with her having to do an emergency C-section in the field when it’s not supposed to be done by a paramedic. That’s something only a doctor or surgeon should’ve done.”
A third simply stated, “Robinson is definitely to blame.”
Will Violet be punished for making a split-second life or death decision? We’ll have to see how her situation plays out.
In a September 21 interview with Us Weekly, Greensmith spoke about her Chicago Fire character’s journey in Season 13. “[We are seeing] Violet walk into a very new energy in her life,” she said. “She’s becoming more comfortable being PIC [paramedic in charge], comfortable being with Novak, comfortable learning how to navigate this new romantic terrain of her life and whether she will or won’t move on from not just Hawkins but Carver as well.”
