Chicago Fire’: Miranda Rae Mayo Teases Dermot Mulroney’s Tough and ‘No-Nonsense’ New Fire Chief

Dermot Mulroney is joining Chicago Fire, and Miranda Rae Mayo has revealed some details about what to expect. Mulroney will replace Eamonn Walker, who exited the role of Chief Wallace Boden in the season 12 finale after starring on the NBC drama from the beginning. While Walker will likely still appear alongside Boden as CFD Deputy Chief, Mulroney’s Chief Dom Pascal will take over at No. 51. Mayo told Us Weekly that Chief Pascal is “annoying” to her Lieutenant Stella Kidd and that the first time viewers see him in action will be “a fireworks show.” She continued, “He’s a tough guy and he’s also very confident in the path ahead of him. He takes it very seriously. There’s a pride in the fire department,” which Pascal threatens. Of course, there’s no telling how, but with the season premiering this Wednesday, fans will soon find out.

It was first announced in July that Mulroney would be joining Chicago Fire. While Pascal began his career with CFD, he spent the last decade as chief of police in Miami. Described as “a fun guy who works under pressure, with a leadership style different from Boden, Pascal has distanced himself from his wife.” It would be difficult to be in a fire department without Boden, and the brief time he actually worked in another department was difficult. Who knows what will happen when a new chief comes in.

Dermot Mulroney is the latest addition to Chicago Fire after a few cast changes. After Alberto Rosende and Kara Killmer left in Season 12, Jocelyn Hudon and Michael Bradway joined in recurring roles. Hudon was promoted to series regular paramedic Lizzie Novak in Season 13. Meanwhile, Bradway’s firefighter Jack Damon was revealed to be Kelly’s long-lost second half-brother thanks to his late father Benny in the Season 12 finale. So Chief Pascal’s arrival won’t be the only thing that changes things at the fire department.

It’s been 13 seasons, and Chicago Fire still knows how to keep fans and firefighters on their toes, and no one knows what will happen when Chief Pascal joins the team. Fans won’t want to miss the Season 13 premiere on Wednesday, September 25 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC’s fall 2024 schedule, as there’s a lot to unpack when the show returns.
