‘Chicago Fire’ Halts Production After Gunshots Are Reported Near Set Chicago Fire is halting production.
The NBC drama halted filming shortly after shots were heard near the set, Variety first reported.
The Chicago Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that a gunman opened fire around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday near the 5900 block of W. Madison St. in Oak Park, Ill. The suspect then fled the scene in a black SUV. No one was hit.
The incident is currently under investigation and no one has been arrested.
The Chicago Fire set quickly implemented security protocols on Wednesday and halted production after gunshots were heard. According to a source close to the series, no one associated with the production was injured or involved.
Filming will resume Thursday.
Chicago Fire is gearing up for its season 11 premiere on September 21. It will pick up where season 10 left off—following Kelly Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) wedding to Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo).
According to the synopsis for the season 11 premiere, “Kidd and Severide’s honeymoon is interrupted by a dangerous person from their past” and “Kidd’s former academy classmate joins Firehouse 51.”

“Jesse Spencer knows this character so well — and especially the relationship between Casey and Severide, that bond of friendship — and he knew that this character had promised to be at the wedding as the Best Man,” Chicago Fire co-producer Andrea Newman told PEOPLE of the decision to bring Spencer back.

“Jesse is like Casey: He’s a man of his word and he’s going to make it happen,” she added. “In that way, he’s completely committed to this character.”
