‘Chicago Fire’ Exit: Is Another Star Leaving the TV Show in Season 13?
Chicago Fire is likely to lose another key member of its cast.
Viewers have been wondering about the fate of Sam Carver, played by Jake Lockett, following Episode 6 of Season 13, “Birds of Prey.”
In the episode, Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) fired Carver from his shift at Firehouse 51 after he fell asleep when the alarm went off and forgot to replace the fire extinguisher after the last call, leading to a fight with Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) that Kidd overheard.
Kidd told him she would call in a float to finish his job, telling him not to return to Firehouse 51 until he could calm down on his own.
While viewers are speculating that the actor is leaving, there are hints that it won’t be forever.
As Soaps.com notes, Jake still has Chicago Fire listed in his Instagram bio, suggesting he’s still involved with the show.
The actor also hinted at Carver’s reunion with his broken love, paramedic Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), later in Season 13 amid his tumultuous romance with Tori (Holly Hinchliffe).
“I think there’s some beauty in taking your time. I think not rushing anything would be great. If they get back together, I love working with Hanako [Greensmith], so for those two to get back together, we have great chemistry, and to be able to allow those two characters to come together, I think a lot of people want that.” If you look at social media, there are a lot of people saying, ‘Who is this girl? [Tori.] What are you doing? Get a grip?'” he told Parade last month.
“I think there’s a lot of love in our relationship, so hopefully it will happen at some point. And if it doesn’t, that’s okay, we’ll figure it out. I think as an actor, it’s hard but it’s also fun to face the unspoken, and that’s really what we’re doing with Sam, so I hope they continue to do that. It’s a challenge for me and it’s fun to face that in front of the camera with other great actors. I’m very lucky.”
He also admitted that there was “doubt” about whether he would return before he finally got confirmation that Carver would be back for Season 13. “Until it’s official, nothing is official, so there’s always a healthy dose of doubt. But I was excited from the moment I saw the script; I got a lot of love from this team and they made sure I knew what was going on. So I was excited from the beginning, but I’m glad it turned out the way it did. It’s always great to be able to grow and change with a character, and I feel like that’s exactly what Sam is doing,” he explained.
