CBS has officially revealed its fall 2025–2026 primetime lineup, and while the schedule is packed with exciting new crime dramas and franchise spin-offs, one beloved title is still missing in action — NCIS: Los Angeles.
Despite growing fan campaigns and recent cast buzz (see Chris O’Donnell’s movie pitch), CBS’s new season roadmap makes no mention of a revival or reboot for the West Coast team. That hasn’t stopped loyal viewers from holding out hope.
🚨 What’s Coming to the CBS Crimeverse
The network’s fall slate includes two major entries that expand the NCIS and FBI universes:
-
NCIS: Sydney returns for Season 2 after a surprisingly strong debut.
-
NCIS: Origins, the prequel series following a young Gibbs, will hold its Tuesday night slot.
-
A new untitled procedural from NCIS veterans is in early development, rumored to follow a team of cybercrime investigators working between Washington D.C. and Miami.
Meanwhile, FBI continues to dominate Tuesday nights with its original and two spin-offs (FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted) locked in for another season.
💬 Where Does That Leave LA?
Since NCIS: Los Angeles bowed out in 2023 after 14 seasons, fans have remained vocal about their desire for closure — or even a mini-reunion. Earlier this year, Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J hinted at their own pitches for a NCIS: LA movie or streaming special, but CBS hasn’t bitten yet.
“There’s definitely still more story to tell,” O’Donnell told TVLine. “Whether that happens on CBS or somewhere else, we’ll see.”
🌍 The Franchise Keeps Growing
Despite Los Angeles remaining in limbo, the NCIS universe shows no signs of slowing down. With Origins capturing the nostalgia market and international editions adding global flavor, CBS seems content to let each show carve its own niche.
Yet the absence of NCIS: LA still stings.
“There’s a hole in the schedule — and in our hearts,” wrote one fan on social media. “Give us the Deeks & Kensi baby. Give us Hetty’s final mission. Just… give us something.”
🕵️ Will the Fans Win in the End?
In the era of reboots, reunions, and revivals, it’s too soon to count NCIS: Los Angeles out. With cast members still passionate and the fan base louder than ever, it may only be a matter of time before CBS — or another streamer — brings the West Coast team back for one more mission.
Until then, fans will keep watching — and waiting.
