We’re talking everything from the premiere date and full cast lineup to the gripping official trailer. Below, we shared all that you need to know about Sheriff Country on CBS before its premiere.

When does Sheriff Country season 1 premiere?
Better get your calendars ready, because you won’t want to miss this! Drumroll, please… Sheriff Country season 1 is set to premiere on CBS on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT. It has a prime spot, airing right after Fire Country season 4 at 8/7c. Plus, for streaming fans, the first episode will be available on Paramount+ the following day. Also premiering on CBS on Oct. 17 is Boston Blue season 1 at 10/9c. So, there’s plenty to watch and enjoy in one exciting night of TV!
When is Sheriff Country on?
Will Sheriff Country season 1 stick to the same time slot after its premiere? No! Following the premiere, the series will move to its regular time slot on Friday nights at 8/7c on CBS. And don’t worry if you miss an episode. Paramount+ has you covered the next day! The only thing you need to make sure of is that you have an active Paramount+ subscription. That’s if you want to go the streaming route.
What is Sheriff Country about?
Matt Lopez created Sheriff Country. As mentioned earlier, it’s a spinoff of Fire Country. You know how Fire Country is all about fearless firefighters risking it all to save lives and face danger head-on? Sheriff Country takes that same high-stakes energy and brings it to the world of law enforcement, following Sheriff Mickey Fox as she balances solving crimes in Edgewater, protecting her community, and handling her complicated family life.
Mickey is the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone and the aunt of Cal Fire firefighter Bode Leone. She was introduced first in Fire Country season 2 and later appeared in an episode of the third season. Now, the spinoff series puts Mickey in the spotlight as the lead, following her adventures as a small-town sheriff. At the same time, she has personal challenges. She has an ex-convict for a father, Wes, and a rebellious daughter, Skye, who keeps her on her toes.
The first season consists of 20 episodes in total, which is a good number of episodes if you ask me. New shows don’t always get such a big episode count for their first installment, so this is a pleasant surprise.

Who is in the Sheriff Country season 1 cast?
So, who stars in the leading role as Mickey? None other than the amazing Morena Baccarin! She reprises this role from the original series, and we’re excited to see her return. You might recognize Baccarin from fan-favorite shows like Gotham and Homeland, or from the Deadpool movies and the action thriller flick Elevation. She’s joined the cast by Matt Lauria. You might have watched him in TV shows like Friday Night Lights, Dickinson, Tell Me a Story, CSI: Vegas and Duster. He portrays the role of Mickey’s partner, Nathan Boone.
The rest of the main cast is made up of Christopher Gorham (Travis), Michele Weaver (Cassidy), W. Earl Brown (Wes Fox), Amanda Arcuri (Skye), Caroline Rhea (Gina), and Tony White (Jerry). Will there be any cast members from Fire Country making appearances? Yes! Fans can expect appearances from Diane Farr and Max Thieriot, reprising their respective roles as Sharon and Bode Leone.
Those are the only two Fire Country actors confirmed to make guest appearances in the spinoff.
Is there a Sheriff Country season 1 trailer?
Yes! Given that the series premiere is just a few days away, it makes sense that an official trailer has already been released. It’s 2 minutes and 4 seconds long, and after watching it, you’ll be more eager to want to see the new police procedural. It gives a sneak peek of what Mickey has to deal with while patrolling the streets of Edgewater. It also introduces us to many of the other characters, including her father and daughter. Check it down below!
While waiting for Sheriff Country season 1 to premiere, we recommend watching or rewatching the first three seasons of Fire Country to keep yourself busy. The first two seasons are available to stream on Netflix if you’re subscribed to that platform. However, it’s best that you make your way to Paramount+ instead. All three seasons are available to watch there.
Sheriff Country season 1 premieres on CBS on Oct. 17 at 9/8c. Don’t forget to save the date and time!
