CBS has just made Fire Country fans excited when officially introducing the spin-off called Sheriff Country, opening a whole new chapter in the Edgewater universe. The series aired on October 17, 2025, airing regularly every Friday night on CBS – right after Fire Country, turning Friday nights into “Edgewater Fridays” full of fire and drama.
If Fire Country brought the audience into the survival battle between humans and fire, Sheriff Country lit up another battle – the fight for justice. The center of this spin-off is Mickey Fox (played by Morena Baccarin – famous star of Deadpool -), the strong female sheriff of the town of Edgewater. She not only has to deal with dangerous cases but also has to face her own troubled past: her criminal father (W. Earl Brown) and her rebellious teenage daughter. Between the stresses of work and family pressure, Mickey must learn to uphold justice without losing himself – a deep internal struggle, both thorny and emotional.
The first season of Sheriff Country is expected to include about 20 episodes, promising breathtaking twists, mysterious cases and touching moments full of humanity – the elements that made Fire Country a resounding success.
The cast of Sheriff Country is considered “as strong as the original blockbuster”: besides Morena Baccarin, there are also Christopher Gorham (as Travis Fraley – Mickey’s ex-husband), Michele Weaver (Cassidy Campbell – a young, enthusiastic female deputy police officer), Matt Lauria (Nathan Boone – Mickey’s mysterious partner) and W. Earl Brown as the mysterious father Wes Fox. Notably, Diane Farr will also appear as Sharon Leone – a familiar character from Fire Country – creating a perfect bridge between the two series in the same universe.
Viewers will continue to return to Edgewater, a land both beautiful and full of wounds – where firefighters once fought the flames, and now, police officers must fight the darkness of humanity itself. Sheriff Country is not just a simple spin-off, but a strategic move by CBS to expand the “Fire Country Universe”, creating the premise for attractive cross-over and intersectional stories in the future.
