CBS confirms when Blue Bloods will officially end (and it’s sooner than we expected)
Blue Bloods will come to a close this December with just a few short weeks left in the show’s run on CBS.
The Reagans’ days on CBS are apparently more limited than we realized. After 14 amazing seasons, Blue Bloods’ time on air is coming to an end this December and it seems the show’s series finale is going to be coming a bit earlier than some might have expected with a schedule that seems to hint few breaks stand between fans and the final episode of the series.
As confirmed by CBS, Blue Bloods will air its final episode on Friday, Dec. 13 at 10/9. This means we’re less than a month away from the show’s series finale and that CBS is opting to air the final episodes without really any interruption.
Heading into the final episodes of the season, CBS made it clear the plan was for Blue Bloods to wrap its run before the end of the year with a December end-date set for the long-running drama. However, CBS had been keeping the exact date for the series finale close to its vest leaving fans to wonder when exactly the show would be signing off.
With the series finale slated for Dec. 13, that means there will only be one week in the show’s final stretch which does not include a new episode with Blue Bloods taking Friday, Nov. 29 off as part of the Thanksgiving holiday but CBS does have something for fans to be thankful for after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Ahead of the series finale on Dec. 13, CBS will give fans the chance to look back on the show’s successful run on the network which first began back in 2010 via a one-hour special airing Nov. 29 at 9/8c. Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy will be hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Nichelle Turner and will celebrate the show’s run with new interviews with the show’s long-time cast and iconic recurring guest stars, who will reflect on their favorite memories from over the years. The special also promises to bring fans a rare look into the show’s beloved family dinners with “secrets straight from the Reagans’ table.”
It’s sure to be a bittersweet moment for fans who are still in shock over CBS’s decision to end the series, a decision that remains puzzling considering the show remains a top performer for CBS and is out-performing a number of CBS originals in its current season.
