Elsbeth, Georgie And Mandy’s First Marriage, and a whole boatload of NCIS‘s were also among shows renewed today.
CBS spent some time handing out report cards today, ultimately distributing season renewal notices to nine of its shows ahead of the 2025-2026 TV season. But the network also singled out one particular comedy for the extra special gold star from teacher, as THR reports that Ghosts has been renewed for not just one, but two seasons.
All told, CBS was clearly in a generous mood, also renewing Elsbeth, Fire Country, Georgie And Mandy’s First Marriage, Hollywood Squares, Tracker, and all three extant NCIS shows. That’s in addition to new seasons it’s already handed out to Matlock, FBI, The Amazing Race, and Survivor, as well as orders for new shows Boston Blue, The Road, and the Fire Country spin-off we still can’t believe they’re calling Sheriff Country. It’s a robust slate of shows that are mostly doing pretty well for themselves, but still: Ghosts is clearly the teacher’s pet, having now been renewed through the series’ sixth season.
And, hey, why not? For four seasons now, Ghosts has made a good time out of potentially dark material, taking a fairly novel premise—there are ghosts, you get it—and building a lot of sitcom fun from it without ever getting too bogged down in questions of thanatology. Starring Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar as its living characters, and Devan Chandler Long, Román Zaragoza, Brandon Scott Jones, Rebecca Wisocky, Danielle Pinnock, Sheila Carrasco, Richie Moriarty, and Asher Grodman as their various post-life roommates, the series was adapted from a five-season British one of the same name, which it is now, thanks to this latest renewal, well on its way to outlasting.
