Angie’s discovery of Crystal and the serial killer on Will Trent Season 2
Season 2 got rather intense as Special Agent Will Trent and his crew investigated a string of murders targeting sex offenders. In the finale, it is revealed that Crystal, a young lady with a dark past, is behind the killings. She targets guys who remind her of Lenny, a man she killed in season 1, and she sees her actions as revenge.
Angie Polaski used to date Will, and when she uncovered this shocking truth, it took a toll on her. One of the chilling moments was when Crystal, at a support group, shared how she would pick out little toys from the dentist’s treasure chest and later find them stuffed in her victims’ mouths.
That slammed hard into Angie, into everybody listening. The tragedy was that Crystal, attempting to run away during the meeting, lost her footing, fell backward, and hitting her head on the ground, died before Angie could get to her.
Will Trent’s decision to arrest Angie
Of the season 2 finale’s biggest moments, Will Trent was left to decide whether to make the hard call in arresting Angie. It was upon finding out that she had lied about Crystal’s involvement in Lenny’s death.
In a further investigation into the murder, Will pieced it together that Angie had covered for Crystal to protect her from trouble. Lenny had been difficult and had hurt both Angie and Crystal. In trying to protect Crystal from facing the fallout, Angie ended up taking the blame for Lenny’s death.
This heavy truth pushed Will to pick between doing his job right and his feelings for Angie. In one emotional scene, he ended up arresting her, which ended their romantic relationship.
“I’ve never arrested a romantic partner before, but it does seem pretty hard to come back from,” joked co-showrunner Liz Heldens in an interview with TVLine.
Will’s choice has caused some tension between the two, and it doesn’t look like they’ll patch things up in season 3, according to ABC.
Where did Will Trent go?
The season finale left everyone asking one question: where did Will Trent go after he arrested Angie? In the final moments, he packed up his stuff, took his dog Betty, and was just gone without a word to anyone.
Co-showrunner Daniel Thomsen teased that Will might’ve high-tailed it to Puerto Rico to see his uncle Antonio. He also made it clear that fans need to hang tight until season 3 to get that scoop.
Will decided to head out after going through the emotional drain. Having to arrest someone he cared about, plus all the heavy emotions tied to the Crystal case, just became too much for him. His exit will be a big part of the story when it returns.
Mark your calendars for season 3 of Will Trent, coming to ABC in early 2025.
If you haven’t watched the first two seasons yet, now is the time to binge-watch both on Hulu before the new drama begins.
