The flames are rising once again at Firehouse 51 — and a new face is stepping into the heat. Brandon Larracuente, fresh off the short-lived Dick Wolf series On Call, is joining Chicago Fire as a series regular for Season 14, Variety confirms.
While Larracuente’s character details remain under wraps, his arrival comes on the heels of two notable cast departures: Daniel Kyri (Ritter) and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver), neither of whom are expected to return. With both exits left open-ended at the close of Season 13, fans are already speculating how their characters will be written out — and what role Larracuente’s newcomer will play in the ever-shifting crew dynamic.
Larracuente brings an impressive résumé to the table, having starred in The Good Doctor, 13 Reasons Why, Party of Five, and Bloodline. Most recently, he headlined On Call, Prime Video’s gritty cop drama executive produced by Wolf — a series that, despite critical buzz, was canceled after just one season.
Season 13 of Chicago Fire ended with a shocker: Herrmann (David Eigenberg) stepped aside to let Mouch (Christian Stolte) rise to lieutenant. According to showrunner Andrea Newman, this shakeup is only the beginning. “There’s nobody safe in this shakeup,” she teased to TV Insider. “Next season is going to be about how the s**t really hits the fan once that mandate comes down… It’s going to be very much about how the change affects everybody, not just from the top, but going down below, too.”
Newman also teased that Larracuente’s arrival will have ripple effects throughout the team: “A new character brings out new sides to the characters we’ve had for a long time. You see different parts of them and get to know them better.”
Still, Season 14 won’t be without its challenges. NBC’s renewal of all One Chicago shows — Fire, Med, and P.D. — came with reported budget cuts and a shortened episode order. How this affects storytelling and cast presence remains to be seen, but longtime fans know Chicago Fire always finds a way to keep the flames burning.
