“Broadcast Breakthrough: ‘Tracker,’ ‘Elsbeth,’ and ‘Blue Bloods’ Finales Soar in Delayed Viewing”

CBS’s “Tracker,” “Elsbeth” and “Blue Bloods” saw the biggest slow-motion viewership gains among the spring finales that aired this year, TheWrap can exclusively reveal.

The “Tracker” finale, which originally aired on Sunday, May 19, drew its highest finale audience to date with 11.25 million total viewers, according to Nielsen’s live-plus-seven-day numbers — an increase of 3.595 million viewers from live-plus-same-day viewers. While the “Tracker” finale didn’t surpass the whopping 18.4 million viewers it drew for its post-Super Bowl premiere, the finale’s viewership was up 10 percent from its regular premiere the following week.

Similarly, “Blue Bloods” added 2.75 million viewers to reach a seven-day viewership of 8.01 million, while the finale of “Elsbeth” added 2.73 million viewers to reach a live-plus-seven-day total of 7.54 million, cementing “Elsbeth” as the second-most-watched new drama series with an average of 7.45 million seven-day viewers over its first season (Note: This ranking does not include live-plus-seven-day viewership figures for ABC’s Thursday finales for “9-1-1,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” or “Station 19,” as they are not yet available).

The series finale of “Young Sheldon” competed with “Tracker” as the finale of the spinoff “Big Bang Theory” reached 11.74 million viewers in a week, up 2.42 million viewers from its original live-plus-same-day viewership. The finale, up 15% from “Young Sheldon’s” live-plus-same-day average this season, marked the show’s largest live-plus-same-day audience since April 30, 2020. The Season 3 finale of “Ghosts” trailed “Young Sheldon” with 7.92 million viewers, up 33% from its live-plus-same-day viewership, tied with the Season 2 finale of “Fire Country,” which had 7.12 million live-plus-same-day viewers and was up 36% from its original live-plus-same-day viewership.

For the “FBI” series, the flagship series “FBI” had the highest viewership for its finale with 8.24 million viewers — up 34% from its live plus same-day original — while “FBI: Most Wanted” came in second with an average viewership of 6.56 million viewers — up 59% — and “FBI: International” averaged 6.39 million viewers — up 42%.

The “NCIS” Season 21 finale had a seven-day viewership of 8.96 million viewers — up 39% — while the “NCIS: Hawai’i” series finale had 7.24 million viewers, up 43% from its live plus same-day original.

The Season 46 finale of “Survivor” scored a seven-day live viewership of 6.00 million — up 33% from its same-day viewership — and became the most-watched non-sports primetime program among adults 18-34, adults 18-49, and adults 25-54 this season. The finale of “The Amazing Race” wasn’t far behind with 4.43 million seven-day viewers, up 55% from its original same-day viewership.
