Bridgerton’s Claudia Jessie Shares Her Weirdest Celebrity Moment (So Far) and It Involved a Train and WhatsApp

Netflix’s premieres this year have been a big hit in the 2024 TV calendar, and that, of course, includes Bridgerton Season 3. The streaming giant has amassed quite the catalogue of talent and fans, and that’s not slowing down. As a result, stars have experienced a lot of fan love in a variety of ways. Some of them have been wild, others have been sweet and meaningful. But for Regency romance Eloise actress Claudia Jessie, her most memorable moment involved WhatsApp, and it was really weird.

Jessie appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and recounted the strange moment, still appearing confused about the story as she shared it. She explained that the incident happened on her regular train ride from her hometown of Birmingham to London, noting that it was not like her normal commute:

There was a girl sitting in front of me who I could see clearly through the gap in the seat, and she was on her phone. And she was Googling me. And then she took a screenshot of my face and sent it to a WhatsApp group.

Talk about a surreal and really strange moment to experience. It’s confusing to see someone else, who you don’t know, look you up, take a screenshot, and then see that photo sent to a WhatsApp group.

However, Jessie didn’t stop there, adding that she could see the person’s friends responding:

And I could see people were like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ I could see what was happening in the group. And then I was like, ‘Oh, this is weird.’

I can’t imagine how the 35-year-old felt at the time, but I suppose stunned is the right adjective. But the coolest thing was that she actually interacted with them:

And then she turned to me and said, ‘Are you Claudia Jessie?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ And she said, ‘Okay.’

To be honest, it sounds like one of the weirdest, most random experiences to have with a fan, not to mention the fact that the passenger’s WhatsApp history of the moment makes it even weirder. Still, I’d love to see that thread!

Overall, the actress was happy about the fan’s quick response, but she shared with Colbert that she was hoping for a more explicit response at least.
