Bridgerton fans may be counting down the days until season three, but first, they’ll get to feast their eyes upon the regency romp’s upcoming spin-off show, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
The prequel series is set to explore Queen Charlotte’s formative years as she ascends the throne and rises to power, with newcomer India Amarteifio playing the younger version of Golda Rosheuvel’s Bridgerton monarch.
Discussing the spin-off during a recent appearance The One Show, Golda revealed to presenters Alex Jones and Emma Willis that she played a small part in the casting of her younger counterpart.
After Alex asked if she was involved in the casting of India, Golda said that she had taken it upon herself to provide the casting director with a photo of her younger self, which happened to look very much like India.
“In a roundabout way, I gave my younger self photo to the casting director, Kelly,” Golda explained.
She wasn’t prepared to take all the credit, though, as she added: “But it’s all Kelly’s doing and Tom Verica, the director and executive producer, they went and found this amazing, talented young lady.”
Golda also highlighted how much effort went into having India look exactly like her on the show, down to the smallest detail on her face.
“Can you see the difference here, can you see any kind of difference?” she asked Alex and Emma, pointing to her face while sitting next to India on the sofa.
“The little moles,” Alex replied, to which Golda shared: “So, I have little moles, which were cast. They made two casts and in the show, India has the moles.”
