Bridgerton Star Breaks Silence on Kate & Anthony’s Season 4 Future – Will They Get Enough Screentime?

Bridgerton star Simone Ashley has addressed Anthony and Kate’s screentime in season 4 of the Netflix show. The Regency-Era romance based on the novels by Julia Quinn, has become a smash-hit for its steamy romances and gorgeous production design. And, with fan-favorite couple Kate and Anthony set to take more of a backseat this season in favor of a Benedict and Sophie-led romance, viewers have been left wondering how much the beloved couple will feature in Bridgerton season 4.

In an interview with Screen Rant for her 2025 rom-com Picture This, Ashley addresses the upcoming season of Bridgerton, and how much her character (and Anthony) would feature. The actor reveals that they have filmed “a couple of times” and that she is excited for the upcoming season. She also expresses her eagerness for the world to see what co-stars (Benedict and Sophie actors) Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha have been doing on the show. Check out Ashley’s comments below:

It’s been so wonderful. We filmed a couple of times now, and I’m just so excited for the world to see everything that Yerin [Ha] and Luke [Thompson] have been up to. They’re leading the season, and they’ve been working so, so hard. Every time I come back, I get to see little glimpses of everything they’re up to, and I’m excited for everyone to see the glimpse of Kate and Anthony’s journey carrying on together.

What These Comments Mean For Kate & Anthony’s Season 4 Journey

Reduced Screentime Allows For New Stories & Increases Anticipation For Their FuturAnthony and Kate smiling in Bridgerton

While it is clear that Anthony and Kate are set to have a reduced amount of screentime in season 4, Ashley’s comments suggest they have filmed a few scenes, and indicate that they will appear in the season enough to have filmed more than once. As the two characters were expecting a baby at the end of Bridgerton season 3, this could explain their reduced role as a result of child-rearing duties.

It is likely that any scenes they are in will show them with their new baby, and focus on how this has changed their family life. However, the upcoming season is going to focus more on other characters, following the Bridgerton formula, and this is important. The oversaturation of on-screen couples can sometimes lead to audience apathy, so the show needs to mix things up, as well as boost the screentime of other characters.

Our Verdict On Bridgerton Season 4

The Show Will Likely Focus On Other Characters

Bridgerton author Quinn shared a promising update regarding the scripts for season 4, which suggests the creative direction will remain strong. While Anthony and Kate will have a more reduced on-screen role in the upcoming season, they’ll still be a prominent background force, especially as they are expecting a baby. The season is set to move other characters front and center, namely Benedict and Sophie’s romance, which will be central to the show. Bridgerton season 4 is set to take the characters on more interesting and dynamic journeys.
