“No way out” for Benedict Bridgerton
One of the unique features of Bridgerton is that each season will focus on a Bridgerton child. And the central character of season 4 is Benedict – the second son of the family
The Bridgerton family has four sons. While Anthony and Colin are married, the youngest Gregory is still young, it is no surprise that Benedict has become the “target” of his mother in this year’s ball season. Lady Violet has never cooled her determination to find the right person for her children, helping them get married.
The Bridgerton version of “Cinderella”
During the masquerade party organized by Lady Violet, Benedict was captivated by a girl called “The Silver Lady”. Benedict is not a prince, but the mysterious girl is no different from Cinderella. The clock chimes, she hastily leaves the ball, leaving no clues as to who she is and even steals Benedict’s heart.
Unlike Benedict, who is still obscure, the audience soon learned that she is Sophie Baek – a beautiful, hard-working girl, but her life has many difficulties. Sophie is the illegitimate child of an Earl. When her father was alive, although not public, Sophie lacked nothing. But when her father passed away, Sophie was pushed down to become a servant by her stepmother.
The love story between Benedict and Sophie is also known as “Cinderella Bridgerton”. To be happy together, they must overcome secrets and different social statuses.
Harry Potter’s “first love” has now become a stepmother
Bridgerton season 4 will introduce a number of new characters, along with new actors. The most notable is probably the appearance of Katie Leung – she was once Harry Potter’s “first love” when she played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter movie.
In Bridgerton 4, Katie Leung plays Araminta Gun, Sophie’s stepmother. Araminta Gun is quite young but has been widowed twice. Araminta is described as a sharp-witted woman, not easily threatened by anyone or anything in society.
The Bad Lady and Her Sister
Widow Araminta Gun has two daughters from her previous husband. The first daughter is Rosamund Li – beautiful, vain, eager to please her mother. During this ball season, Rosamund sets her sights on Benedict, thus the conflict between her and Sophie becomes more intense.
The second daughter is Posy Li – kinder than her sister, talkative, overly friendly, sometimes she acts a little out of control. She is not “respected” by her mother as much as her sister.
“Stepsisters” meet “Sisters-in-law”
One of the newly revealed photos from Bridgerton 4 that has received a lot of attention and interest is the meeting between Rosamund and Posy with Eloise and Hyacinth. The two Li girls and the two Bridgerton girls are sitting in the same room, not looking very “friendly”.
Rosamund may be capricious and quite “formidable”, but Eloise and Hyacinth are no pushovers. Eloise is no less than her brothers in physical games, and Hyacinth can “defeat” them in games that require intelligence and a little bit of wit.
It is not clear what happened in the photo, but many comments expressed interest in the idea that the two Bridgerton girls can “get even” to help Sophie – her future sister-in-law – after years of being bullied by Rosamund.
Friendship reigns supreme
In Bridgerton, romance is emphasized, but friendship is equally important. Therefore, when Eloise and Penelope “broke up”, many viewers felt as sad as if they had broken up. But last season, the two girls reconciled and are now closer than ever, becoming a family when Penelope married Colin – Eloise’s brother.
Up until now, Eloise has shown no interest in marriage, but readers who love Julia Quinn’s novels know that Eloise also has her own romantic story. She has a secret. Perhaps now, when her friendship with Penelope is restored, Eloise will reveal it to her best friend (and the audience will also get to “hear”).
Going far away to return
In Bridgerton 3, Anthony and Kate – the Viscount couple – decided to go to India, both for their honeymoon and to welcome their first child. When Bridgerton 4 begins, it may be time for them to return.
At the end of Bridgerton 3, Francesca – the most introverted girl in the Bridgerton family – got married and moved to a faraway place with her husband. But readers who love Julia Quinn’s novels know that Francesca’s own story has not really begun yet.
Francesca’s story begins with tragedy, when her husband suddenly passed away and Francesca became a widow at a very young age. She has to go through a journey to heal and find new happiness. Many viewers predict that Francesca’s moment of collapse will happen in Bridgerton 4.
