She’ll star in a new coming-of-age drama.
Queen Charlotte star India Amarteifio has landed a lead role in new movie Into The Deep Blue.
The star, best known for playing the young Charlotte in the Netflix Bridgerton prequel, will appear alongside Maxton Hall – The World Between Us’ Damian Hardung in the coming-of-age drama, according to Deadline.
The movie will see the pair play two friends called Fiona and Nick, who cross paths at group therapy and struggle to make sense of their lives after loss.
However, a weekend trip brings deeper feelings to the fore despite falling in love being the last thing they both need, and they may prefer to cut each other off than face their feelings.
Into The Deep Blue has been written by Jennifer Archer, with the screenplay selected for the Oscars Academy’s prestigious Nicholl Fellowship competition. Jonathan Wright is set to direct.
“We are thrilled to bring together such a fabulous cast for this remarkable script,” said producer Aletha Shepherd.
“It’s such a joy working with such talents, especially when we know we have something truly special on our hands. We are excited to find the right home and partner to make sure this film garners the success it deserves.”
Queen Charlotte debuted last year, and while it proved to be a success, it seems a potential second season won’t be happening anytime soon.
Addressing a possible follow up, creator Shonda Rhimes told Variety earlier this year: “I feel like I’m having a conversation with Netflix! They ask me this question all the time! I’m trying to figure it out still.
“I don’t want to tell a story that doesn’t need to be told – do you know what I mean? I don’t want to make a second season of Queen Charlotte, and you’re going to be, like, ‘Well, that was not that great’.”
