Boston Blue Casting Roundup: Meet the Actors Bringing the Spinoff to Life

CBS has officially greenlit the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue, set to premiere October 17, 2025. The series follows Donnie Wahlberg’s Detective Danny Reagan as he leaves the streets of New York for the Boston Police Department. Wahlberg steps into the role once again, this time as both lead actor and accompanying executive producer.

Sonequa Martin-Green joins the cast as Detective Lena Silver, a sharp and driven partner with deep roots in Boston’s law enforcement scene. Maggie Lawson plays Superintendent Sarah Silver, a forceful and strategic leader trying to honor her family’s legacy while keeping the department in line. Gloria Reuben stars as District Attorney Mae Silver, bringing gravitas and moral complexity to the legal side of the story.

Rev. Peters, portrayed by Ernie Hudson, offers spiritual guidance and stability as the elder anchor of the Silver family. Marcus Scribner adds a youthful perspective as rookie Jonah Silver, freshly joining the force with idealism and determination. In a major casting shift, Mika Amonsen will play Sean Reagan—Danny’s adult son and entry-level patrolman in Boston taking over the role after 14 seasons from Andrew Terraciano.

Created by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis and executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer along with Donnie Wahlberg, Boston Blue combines legacy elements with fresh energy. Filming is scheduled to take place primarily in Toronto, with select key scenes to be shot in Boston. The series will be available on CBS, followed by next-day streaming on Paramount+.
