“Blue Bloods Stars Reflect on Their Final Day of Filming: ‘Grateful for Every Unforgettable Moment’”

Donnie Wahlberg and the rest of the Blue Bloods cast have marked the final day of filming for the CBS family drama’s final run.

In November, Blue Bloods announced it would end with Season 14; the first 10 episodes aired from February to May, and the final eight will premiere this fall. Series lead Tom Selleck and other cast members have been campaigning for the show to continue, but CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach has been adamant that it’s time for Blue Bloods to return its badge. “It’s important to us to refresh the schedule,” Reisenbach told reporters in May. “We’re going to end the show in December.”

And now, that “end” is being committed to filming.

“The last day of Blue Bloods,” Wahlberg, who has played Danny Reagan since Day 1, shared on Instagram on Thursday. “I’m not sure I have the words to express how I feel about this day or the past 14 years of this extraordinary journey of Blue Bloods, but I know I am incredibly grateful for every moment of it.

“To the cast, crew, guest stars, every extra, writer, producer, and every member of every department — thank you,” he continued. “To the people of New York, in every neighborhood and borough, thank you for always showing love. To the NYPD, thank you for your support and sacrifice, I hope we have done you proud. Finally, to my fans and the fans of this show. We couldn’t have gotten through these 14 days (let alone 14 years) without you! Your love and support of this show has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Thank you.”

Wahlberg’s longtime co-star, Marisa Ramirez (who has played Maria Baez since Season 3), also shared her thoughts on the big event.

“Last day of Blue Bloods!” she wrote on Instagram. “I don’t have the words to express how happy or sad I am but at least I have a custom Violet sticker shield to replace the one I had to return to props today. So sweet….” (See photos of her daughter’s real-life crafts below.) Vanessa Ray, who played Eddie Janko Reagan for 11 seasons, shared a photo of herself, Wahlberg, and Ramirez hugging on set on her Instagram story, along with the words “last day feeling” and “I love them so much it hurts.”

At an early June shareholder meeting, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins hinted that a new Blue Bloods series is in the works, though it’s unclear whether any such offshoots will be for CBS or Paramount+. “In television, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods,” Robbins said.

The final eight episodes of Blue Bloods will air this fall, as usual on Fridays at 10/9c.
