“Blue Bloods” Final Season: Tom Selleck Talks About Filming His Last Scene & What He’ll Miss Most
Blue Bloods is set to return next Friday, October 18 at 10 p.m. (ET) on CBS, rolling out the very last eight episodes of the series. It’ll be the beginning of the end for fans, many of whom have been fighting for the show to stay on the air, and Tom Selleck has not been silent on the fact that he wasn’t overly pleased the series was canceled.
He recently opened up about filming his final Blue Bloods scene and what he’ll miss most about being on the drama.
“Blue Bloods” Final Season: Tom Selleck Talks Last Scene As Frank Reagan
Selleck tells TV Insider that his last scene mirrored his first scene on the show, 15 years ago. The actor states, “My last scene was ironically family dinner; that was also the first scene I shot on the show 15 years ago! I’m not going to tell you everything about the last episode … but the family dinner kind of reunites the Reagan family.”
Selleck reveals that the Reagan family gathered around the table for a last dinner together, which included Erin Reagan-Boyle’s (Bridget Moynahan) daughter, Nicky Reagan-Boyle’s (Sami Gayle), and Danny Regan’s (Donnie Wahlberg) son Jack Reagan (Tony Terraciano), who returned to the show for the series finale.
It’s important to note that while the family dinner was Selleck’s last scene this doesn’t necessarily mean that this will be the show’s last scene in the finale. Tom does tell TV Insider that after shooting the scene there were many hugs and crying.
“Blue Bloods” Final Season: What Will Tom Selleck Miss Most?
Selleck tells TV Insider that the cast is what he’ll miss most about Blue Bloods coming to a close.
He states, “The family of actors is as close as the Reagan family and the characters that they play. There’s isn’t a single one of them who didn’t want to come back. Most shows don’t end that way — there’s petty jealousy and all sorts of things– and we seemed to overcome that. It’s something for everybody to hang their hats on and be proud of.”
