Bill Maher Fires Back at Trump, Compares Potential Presidency to Rebooting “The Cosby Show”

Bill Maher isn’t holding back ahead of the 2024 election, and this time, he’s taking aim at Donald Trump with some sharp humor. On the October 25 episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher compared the possibility of a second Trump presidency to a highly inappropriate TV reboot.

“If Trump wins, he’ll be the oldest president ever, surpassing even Joe Biden,” Maher quipped, before adding with a grin, “Yeah, let’s do that again… but with a sex criminal. It’d be like rebooting The Cosby Show with Bill Cosby.”

But Maher didn’t stop there. He also poked fun at Halloween—just around the corner—joking about how Trump’s campaign antics are just like a Halloween scare. “I’ve already seen people out in crazy makeup trying to scare people—what Trump calls campaigning,” Maher said with a laugh.

And then, Maher turned his sights to Vice President Kamala Harris. “Kamala’s getting in the Halloween spirit too,” Maher said. “She loves it when the little kids come up to her porch and say those three little words: ‘Please don’t shoot.’”

As for the final stretch of the election, Maher had a field day with the contrasting closing arguments from Trump and Harris. “Kamala’s message is basically, ‘We’re not going backwards,’ while Trump’s seems to be, ‘I work at McDonald’s and Arnold Palmer has a big…’” Maher trailed off, referencing Trump’s infamous lewd remark about the late golfer Arnold Palmer.

Maher also riffed on Trump’s accusations that Harris had lied about working at McDonald’s during her college years. “He’s suspicious because no one remembers her there,” Maher said. “Maybe that’s the problem—maybe she wasn’t even vice president.”

And in a hilarious dig at one of Trump’s more recent publicity stunts, Maher joked about Trump’s weekend at McDonald’s. “He went to McDonald’s just to troll her,” Maher said. “Did you see the picture? The caption I’d put: ‘Want lies with that?’”

With his usual mix of biting humor and political commentary, Bill Maher isn’t letting up as the 2024 election nears—showing once again that his comedic barbs are as sharp as ever.
