Big Soap Crossover: Days of Our Lives Favorite Tamara Braun Heads to Y&R

In a movie that takes her one show closer to collecting every on-air soap opera Infinity Stone, daytime TV veteran Tamara Braun is officially joining the cast of The Young and the Restless.

Braun is making the move to the long-running daytime drama’s fictional setting of Genoa City, Wis., a rep for The Young and the Restless confirmed to Entertainment Weekly, and is set to begin taping as early as next week. She’ll portray a new character named Sienna Bacall, aptly sudsy for a star of Braun’s stature.

Braun played critical roles in not one, not two, but three major soaps over the course of her three-decade career on screen.

Starting with small, single-episode roles on series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Party of Five, Braun landed her first major part in 2005, when she was cast as Carly Corinthos on General Hospital. Braun would go on to appear as the complicated bad girl (currently portrayed by Laura Wright) from 2001-2005, and reprise the role in 2014.
After GH, Braun moved onto her most vital role, Ava Vitali on Days of Our Lives, which earned the actress her first Daytime Emmy award (her second came for portraying Dr. Kim Nero back on GH in 2020). Though Ava was briefly portrayed by the actresses Sara Fletcher and Linsey Godfrey in recent years, the unhinged and obsessive Ava is synonymous with Braun, who played the character in 2008, returned from 2015-2016, and then enjoyed another six-year run that ended this past April.

Braun also appeared as the Days character Taylor Walker in 2011 and starred as Reese Williams on All My Children between 2008 and 2009.
The role of Sienna Bacall represents Braun’s first on a CBS soap. While character details are being kept under wraps, a source tells PEOPLE that Sienna has “personal connections to several characters” in Genoa City.

It’s a momentous time to be joining the cast of The Young and the Restless. The daytime drama, which first premiered in 1973, recently celebrated airing its 13,000th episode in November.

If Braun one day books appearances on The Bold and the Beautiful and Beyond the Gates, she’ll have the full set of soap gems.
