Big Shock: Actress Juliana Aidén Martinez (FBI) Passes Away After Tragic Car Accident md20

The wait is finally over; FBI returns with an all-new episode tonight — and according to star Alana De La Garza, more than one life is in jeopardy.

“The episode follows the aftermath of a Brooklyn apartment complex explosion which leads the team to a convicted felon currently serving time who is calling shots from the inside,” De La Garza, 49, exclusively told Us Weekly on Monday, December 1, ahead of season 8’s return at 9 p.m. ET.

The actress, who plays SAC Isobel Castille, teased, “When the team visits the prison, a riot breaks out and it’s all hands-on deck for Scola and Ramos when they are caught up in the crosshairs.”

During the Monday episode titled “Fadeaway,” John Boyd’s Stuart Scola and new partner Juliana Aidén Martinez’s Eva Ramos are left to fend for themselves while trapped inside the prison at the time of the riot.

While De La Garza wouldn’t reveal Scola and Ramos’ fate, she told Us the episode is a turning point for the fairly-new coworkers.

“I think this shared experience and needing to rely on each other will bring them closer as partners,” De La Garza explained. “Both are sharp and quick thinkers and they need each other to get out.”

When it comes to Ramos’s future at the FBI — after Scola’s revolving door in the partner department — De La Garza said fans are in for a treat.

“We have lots to learn about Ramos, and I’m excited that Juliana is bringing her to life in such a powerful way,” she teased.

Ramos was introduced as Scola’s newest partner during season 8, episode 3, in October after his former partner Dani Rhodes (Emily Alabi) was shot and killed during the season premiere. (Alabi joined the cast after Ebonée Noel exited the series ahead of season 3 as Kristen Chazal and Katherine Renee Kane left the show after playing Tiffany “Tiff” Wallace from season 3 to 6.)

Fans haven’t learned much about Ramos in her first few episodes, especially since FBI went on a fall break following the November 17 episode.

When the series returns on Monday, Scola and Ramos’ partnership won’t be the only topic of discussion. Isobel’s fate at the FBI will be revealed as will her successor as Special Agent in Charge of the department amid talks of her promotion.

“I think it will affect everyone from the JOC all the way to the field team,” De La Garza told Us of Isobel’s intention to leave the New York office. “Isobel has created a valued environment of agents.”

The actress hinted that Isobel’s decision to push for ASAC Jubal Valentine (Jeremy Sisto) to take over her position might not sit well with everyone — or end the way fans may expect.

“Isobel always acts in the interest of what is best,” De La Garza said. “I don’t think she would have thrown Jubal’s name in the ring if she didn’t think he’d be the right fit.”

She teased, “But, I also think she knew going into it that Jubal — between suspensions and conflicts — may not be a favorite for the job.”

FBI returns with all-new episodes on CBS Monday, December 1, at 9 p.m. ET.
