Although one Ghosts fan theory suggests Sass’s death may have been caused by an aneurysm in his sleep, as this would explain his dream power, Ghosts has not yet revealed the cause of Sass’s death canonically. Thus, Ghosts season 5 will need to see a major character “Sucked off” since this is the only way the sitcom can regain some long-term storytelling stakes.
Once the ghosts all know each other’s secrets, there is little room for shock in the show’s main lineup. However, since Ghosts season 5 must explain why none of the main ghosts have been “Sucked off” to the afterlife, this is arguably ideal timing for the sitcom.

Since all the spirits have undergone meaningful character growth since the series began, this fate could reasonably befall any of them in season 5.
