‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Kate Micucci Celebrates Cancer-Free Diagnosis After Surgery

Kate Micucci, beloved for her role in The Big Bang Theory, has announced that she is officially cancer-free following a successful surgery. The actress and comedian shared the joyous update with her fans through a heartfelt TikTok video.

“Hey everyone! I just wanted to thank you all so much for the good wishes and all the love I received this past week,” she said in the video posted Saturday. “It meant so much to me and really came at a time that I really needed it, so thank you.”

The 43-year-old actress went on to deliver the best news her fans could hope for: “I have great news, which is that I am cancer-free! The surgery last week went great. All the reports came back that it worked, and I don’t need to do any further treatment. So a big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone who took such great care of me. And thanks to catching it early because I am very, very lucky.”

Micucci expressed gratitude for her health and the positive outcome. “I’m feeling really good today and I’m honestly just so excited and truly grateful. Thank you all for the prayers and good wishes. I’m just glad I can share some good news with you.”

The actress, who shares a 3-year-old son with her husband, musician Jake Sinclair, shared her excitement about spending the holidays with her family. “I’m really looking forward to hanging with my little boy for Christmas,” she said. In a heartwarming moment, her son appeared in the video to give her a kiss, adding a touching finale to her announcement.

A Surprising Diagnosis

Just a week earlier, Micucci had revealed her shocking diagnosis: lung cancer. Despite never smoking, she underwent surgery to remove the cancer after it was caught early.

“Hey everybody, this is not a TikTok, it’s a ‘Sick Tok,’” she joked in her initial post from the hospital. “I had lung cancer surgery yesterday. They caught it really early, which is great. It’s really weird because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, so it was a surprise. But I guess it happens.”

She elaborated in the comments of her post how her condition was detected. “I had one thing in my bloodwork that came back really high… It was HCRP… not sure what that is exactly, but I guess it means there is inflammation somewhere,” Micucci explained. A preventative doctor conducted scans and found a spot on her lung, leading to the diagnosis.

A Storied Career in Comedy and TV

Kate Micucci has been a familiar face in comedy and television for years. Best known for playing Lucy in The Big Bang Theory during Seasons 6 and 7, she reprised the role in Season 10.
