Nearly 20 years after The Big Bang Theory first premiered, the beloved sitcom may still have surprises left. Kaley Cuoco recently sparked excitement by teasing a possible return to the franchise in the upcoming spin-off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Asked whether Penny could appear, Cuoco’s playful reaction — wide eyes and a knowing smile — suggested it’s “definitely not a no.”
The new series centers on comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) and marks the third spin-off following Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Since the show’s 2019 finale, the cast has stayed busy. Cuoco found acclaim with The Flight Attendant and welcomed her first child in 2023. Jim Parsons, a four-time Emmy winner, continues acting and narrated Young Sheldon. Johnny Galecki has stepped back to focus on family life, while Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg remain active in film, TV, and voice work.
As the Big Bang universe expands, fans may yet see familiar faces return.
