Yellowstone season 5 part 2 will have one of the greatest endings in all of television history, as teased by one of the show’s biggest stars.
A star of hit neo-Western drama Yellowstone has teased that the conclusion to season 5 could rank as one of the greatest endings in all of television. Debuting on Paramount Network in June 2018, the show, co-created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, has garnered critical acclaim, and proven popular with audiences. The fifth and final season of the show will run a total of 14 episodes, and has been split into two parts, the first part premiering in November 2022, and Yellowstone season 5 part 2 is set to air in November 2024.
In an interview with ET Online, star Ian Bohen, who plays Ryan on the show, opened up on the fifth season, and how the ending could be one that lives long in the memory. The actor discussed how the show’s ending has been perfectly set up, and how he could not think of any other show that had finished so strongly. Check out Bohen’s full comments on the show’s ending below:
The fans are going to get the [best] conclusion that could possibly be written. Everything will land in a way that is perfectly set. A lot of shows just kind of finish… and they don’t satisfy you. This will be completed in a way that it will make sense. I don’t know that any show has finished this strongly ever. We’re expecting to have the best series finale in history. Overconfident maybe, but I think that’s what it’s going to be. We thank everyone for their patience… It’ll be worth the wait, I promise.
Will The Yellowstone Series Finale Live Up To The Hype?
As One Of The Best-Written Shows On TV, Expectations Will Be High For A Strong & Satisfying Conclusion
“The narrative direction the show could take for its finale is unclear at this point, however, there are rumors that there could be a potential return for Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton, after the star controversially quit the series midway through season 5.”
TV series’ are complex beasts, and the legacy of a show can live or die based on the conclusion, with many getting the ending wrong and leaving fans disappointed. Game of Thrones, for instance, has one of the most hated series finales in all of television because many felt the showrunners failed to deliver on the promise of the premise that had been set up. Yellowstone will be looking to avoid this problem, and provide a send-off that is true to its characters and universe.
While Bohen’s comments could well be viewed as overconfidence, they certainly suggest that at least some of the cast and crew are very happy with the direction the show has taken, and how the series is set to include. The narrative direction the show could take for its finale is unclear at this point, however, there are rumors that there could be a potential return for Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton, after star controversially quit the series midway through season 5.
Any Costner return would depend on the star having to reconcile with Sheridan, as well as it being natural for the plot and storyline. There is a lot riding on the Yellowstone finale, and the final couple of episodes could be the difference between the show simply being another decent Western, or going down in history as a critical triumph. With Sheridan at the helm, there’s promise that the Yellowstone series finale could rank as one of the greatest in TV history.
