Beau Knapp Looks Back at ‘Bones’ After Reuniting with David Boreanaz on ‘SEAL Team’
For SEAL Team’s seventh and final season, Beau Knapp joined the cast as Bravo’s newest member, Drew Franklin, who reluctantly (but obligingly) reveals his past to the others in the latest episode. He spoke to TV Insider about that revelation as well as what’s to come, including being directed by series star and executive producer David Boreanaz in Episode 6 (premiering on Paramount+ on September 8). And with that moment, history repeated itself for Knapp.
The actor guest-starred on Bones, which starred Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, in 2013, in the Season 8 finale, “The Secret in the Siege,” part of Pelant’s (Andrew Leeds) storyline. He played a suspect, Zane Reynolds, and he was also directed by Boreanaz in that episode.
“It was a trip,” Knapp recalled of his Bones cameo to TV Insider. “It was 2013. It was a wild time. Like 2011, I was 21. I had my first child and I was just a young, hungry actor. That was all I knew how to do. Super 8 was my first job, the J.J. Abrams movies. And then I’m pretty sure Bones was the second thing I ever did, but when I started, it was wild because David Boreanaz was directing that ending and so I went in the room and read for David across from him. Just like I did with SEAL Team—the test was with David just sitting across from me.”
He continued, “It was a great experience and I think that was one of the first conversations we had when I walked into the room for SEAL Team testing. David and I started talking about 10 years ago or whatever, 11, 12 years and it’s been so fast, but it was great to work together again. But yeah, even then, it was playing a villain. It was fun. I think that was my first experience of TV and how different it is from doing movies. It’s crazy to see that. I looked like a kid when I was doing Bones compared to now. It’s really gratifying.” Check out the photo above to see him on Bones.
