For Kunal Nayyar, the massive success of The Big Bang Theory brought more than fame and fortune—it created an opportunity to quietly help people in need.
The actor, who portrayed Raj Koothrappali throughout the sitcom’s 12-season run, says the financial freedom he gained from the show has allowed him to make a real difference. Instead of viewing wealth as a pressure, he considers it a privilege.
Speaking to The i Paper, Nayyar explained that he and his wife regularly contribute to scholarships for students from less fortunate backgrounds. They also donate to animal charities, reflecting their shared love of dogs.
But one of his most personal acts of generosity happens behind the scenes. The actor revealed that he often visits GoFundMe at night and pays off strangers’ medical bills. “That’s my masked vigilante thing,” he said.
At the height of The Big Bang Theory’s popularity, the cast earned close to $1 million per episode, making Nayyar one of television’s highest-paid actors, according to Forbes. His latest project was the 2025 film Christmas Karma.
