Bachelor Nation is a very small world, so it’s pretty common for exes from the franchise to have to come face-to-face. That’s exactly what happened for Joan Vassos and Gerry Turner when they both attended the Season 29 finale of The Bachelor on Monday, March 24.
To make matters even more potentially awkward, Vassos was there with her fiancé, Chock Chapple. However, all seemed to be okay between the trio, as they posed for a photo together in the audience.
“When your fiancé meets the first guy you dated on national television… #thegoldenbachelor #thegoldenbachelorette,” Vassos captioned the shot, which featured her seated between her ex and her husband-to-be.
Vassos was a contestant on Season 1 of The Golden Bachelor, but left the show early to deal with a family emergency back home. She was then named the Golden Bachelorette, which is how she met Chapple. They got engaged on the show in 2024.
Things between Vassos and Turner ended amicably. He even appeared on an episode of The Golden Bachelorette to offer Vassos advice amid her journey to find love.
“We are really good friends still,” the Maryland native spilled on the Two Jersey Js podcast in January. She also added that she and Turner “stay in touch.” After Vassos’ departure from The Golden Bachelor, Turner went on to get engaged to Theresa Nist. They married in January 2024 but split just three months later.
On the contrary, Vassos and Chapple are going strong in their own relationship. Although they are still long distance, they make a point to see each other every 10 to 14 days. Plus, scheduled appearances where they have have to be in the same place, like the trip to Los Angeles for The Bachelor finale, help make sure they’re spending time together while living apart. The couple also still plans to get a place in New York City where they can meet up for getaways.
