Another Bones Cast Member Set for Reboot After David Boreanz and Emily Deschanel Express Interest
Another key Bones creator has rallied behind a potential revival, along with co-stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. The Fox police drama focuses on the cases of the Jeffersonian Institute’s Forensic Medicine Laboratory and their evolving personal relationships. Beginning in September 2005, Bones aired for 246 episodes over 12 seasons and received critical acclaim, along with several award nominations and wins for certain actors and episodes. In addition to Boreanaz and Deschanel, the main Bones cast includes Michael Conlin, T.J. Thyne, Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, Eric Millegan, John Boyd, and Patricia Belcher.
After Boreanaz and Deschanel voiced their desire to resurrect Bones for a new season, Reichs showed her support for the two main stars via her Twitter account.
Fan account @nxnissTBL shared their excitement about Deschanel and Boreanaz’s recent Bones revival hopes, with Reichs stating that she, too, hopes for a revival. Reichs not only serves as a producer on the series, but also wrote the novel that inspired the show, which is based on her real-life experiences as a forensic anthropologist.
Boreanaz first brought up the possibility of reviving Bones back in August, in a decidedly more enthusiastic tone. While he reiterated that he felt the show was a unique success that would be difficult to replicate, he was always open to reuniting with the cast and crew for any potential revival. Deschanel then responded to her co-star’s comments with surprise that Boreanaz is now open to returning, sharing her own openness to the possibility.
David Boreanaz’s comments on a Bones revival give me hope that it will return after his replacement show ends David Boreanaz’s recent comments on the possibility of a Bones revival give me hope that it will happen after his current show, SEAL Team, ends.
Furthermore, the twelfth and final season of Bones included a place where a revival could easily reunite the cast for new chapters in their lives. Although the season ended with a multi-episode storyline that endangered several characters and left Brennan severely injured, most of the Jeffersonian Institute members emerged unscathed and went their separate ways. As such, reuniting the fan-favorite crew for new cases years after viewers last saw them would be a breeze.
Reichs is now pledging his support for a potential revival that could get streamers interested in digging up the series for a new generation.
With 12 successful seasons, Bones has been able to amass a huge fan base that supports the series to this day and would be willing to support any new revival project. With many of the cast and crew following in the footsteps of Boreanaz, it’s clear that any revival would likely have the full support of the majority of the cast. Reichs is now pledging his support for a potential revival that could get streamers interested in digging up the series for a new generation.
Another positive sign for the Bones revival is that Boreanaz remains an active name on television. Just a few months after Bones ended in March 2017, Boreanaz debuted on SEAL Team in September 2017. SEAL Team saw Boreanaz play Jason Hayes, a Navy SEAL who was the Senior Officer of Bravo Team. SEAL Team was incredibly successful on the network, airing over 100 episodes. Boreanaz’s appearance on SEAL Team would help him continue to gain recognition from television fans, easily closing the gap for him to appear on a Bones revival. SEAL Team also recently saw a mini Bones reunion when Beau Knapp, who was in the Bones season 8 finale, appeared on the show alongside Boreanaz. While Knapp wasn’t a main character on Bones, the reunion was still an interesting mix of Bones talent. Between this mini-reunion and the enthusiasm from many Bones creators, the chances of reviving Bones have improved a lot.
While SEAL Team’s seven-year run has been good for Boreanaz’s visibility, SEAL Team Season 7 will be the final season. This gives the actor time in his schedule to recast Bones to make it happen. Likewise, Deschanel has been involved in a number of completed series, including Devil in Ohio and Animal Kingdom. The actors’ willingness and schedules are both good for the possibility of recasting Bones, making the reboot possible.
