All Eyes on Dermot Mulroney’s Chief Pascal as He Steps into Boden’s Shoes
Season 13 of Chicago Fire will introduce Dermot Mulroney as 51’s new fire chief, Dom Pascal, and the Chi-Hards can’t wait to welcome him to the One Chicago family.
Mulroney’s casting comes after Eammon Walker left the series regular role in Season 12, and while it’s a bittersweet goodbye to the longtime fire chief, the Chi-Hards can expect Mulroney to bring the heat. NBC has released the first look at Season 13 of Chicago Fire, and we can already tell that Chief Pascal won’t be a pushover. The One Chicago family is growing, and all eyes are on Pascal to see how he’ll step up and usher in a new era for the NBC veteran.
Everything You Need to Know About Chicago Fire Season 13
Check out these sneak peek photos from Chicago Fire Season 13, which look like they’re going to be a blast.
Fans can’t wait for the Chicago Fire action to continue after the explosive end of Season 12, and based on the preview photos, Mulroney is getting to work as Chief Pascal. In one photo, Pascal is chatting with Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) in his office. Will that conversation revolve around Boden telling Herrmann he wants him to take over Firehouse 51 last season? Only time will tell, but Herrmann looks pressed, and Mulroney commands the room in his sheriff’s uniform as Pascal.
Meanwhile, another preview photo shows Pascal leading a briefing at 51, with firefighters and paramedics hanging on his every word. Boden has been their chief of police for over a decade, performing thrilling rescue missions, so there will definitely be some rough patches as they adjust to a new superior. The Firehouse 51 family can be a tricky place to break into—almost every fan has been educated at the station before they’re accepted—and Pascal will also be tasked with proving to these seasoned first responders that they can trust him when things inevitably get rough.

In an interview with TV Insider ahead of the Season 13 premiere, Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman explained that Pascal “turns things upside down” at the beginning of the season.
“What happened to get him here is revealed in the premiere,” Newman revealed. “He’s a completely different kind of leader than Boden, who became a father figure when he left home.” Newman went on to add that Pascal is “an enigma. He wants to peel back the layers of firefighters to learn more about them as firefighters and as people because knowledge is power to him. He has an eye for people who cross the line.”
Don’t miss Mulroney’s debut as Chief Dom Pascal by watching the Season 13 premiere of Chicago Fire on Wednesday, September 25 at 9/8c on NBC or streaming the episode the next day on Peacock.
