All 8 Queen Charlotte Characters Missing From Bridgerton & Where They Went
Queen Charlotte has plenty of crossovers with Bridgerton, but there are several characters who go missing. Here is who doesn’t appear in both series.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story contains a mixture of new and familiar faces, but many of the characters introduced in the prequel series don’t appear at all in Bridgerton. Created by Shonda Rhimes, Queen Charlotte follows the early days of the title character’s time as monarch, as well as her growing love story with King George III. Set in two separate time periods, Queen Charlotte fleshes out the world fans have come to know through Bridgerton.
Starring India Amarteifio, Corey Mylchreest, and Arséma Thomas, Queen Charlotte has received mostly positive reviews from critics. It currently has a 95% score from 45 reviews and an audience score of 80%. The series brings a plethora of new characters, all of whom have connections with Queen Charlotte, King George III, and Lady Danbury herself — be they in either timeline.
8. Reynolds
Reynolds was King George III’s secretary, his right-hand man who knew everything about his health and daily activities — things that most people weren’t privy to, including Queen Charlotte for a time. Reynolds was an important presence in King George’s life, but he is no longer around in Bridgerton’s time period. The older version of Brimsley dancing on his own in the palace courtyard suggests Reynolds may have died at some point within the decades since the royal couple’s early days. It gives Brimsley’s moment an air of sadness that hints at a love lost.
7. Violet Bridgerton’s Parents
Queen Charlotte introduced Lady Violet Bridgerton’s mother and father, Lady Vivian and Lord Ledger, who had an affair with Lady Agatha Danbury after the death of her husband. The prequel series takes place before Violet is out in society, but considering how many decades have passed between the prequel series and Bridgerton, it’s most likely Lady Vivian and Lord Ledger died in the intervening years.
6. King George & Queen Charlotte’s Children
King George III and Queen Charlotte’s children have been mentioned a few times in Bridgerton, but Queen Charlotte finally introduced all 13 of their offspring. And if reality is anything to go by, then the princesses tend to stay hidden away from society, as they were not allowed to marry until they were older and only with the permission of King George III.
5. Princess Augusta
Princess Augusta played a critical role in King George III’s life, and Queen Charlotte showed just how many decisions she had the power to make in his stead. She also had some tension with Queen Charlotte at the beginning of her marriage. Princess Augusta might have operated with a deft hand in Queen Charlotte, but she passed away a little over a decade following the events of the prequel series, in 1772.
4. Queen Charlotte’s Brother Adolphus
Adolphus, Queen Charlotte’s older brother, played an integral role in his sister’s marriage to King George III. He even proposed marriage to Lady Danbury before heading back to Germany, although he left on his own and, in reality, never married. While it’s likely Adolphus visited his sister often enough in the years after her marriage, it’s likely he doesn’t appear in Bridgerton because he remained in Germany and died over a decade before Bridgerton began.
3. Lady Danbury’s Kids
Queen Charlotte reveals Lady Agatha Danbury has four young children by the time Charlotte becomes queen. However, they’re not around in Bridgerton’s timeline. The prequel series gives a reason for that as well, with the older version of Lady Danbury stating that her children are on different continents (though which ones exactly remain unclear). She is happy they’re not really around, as she enjoys her freedoms, but it’s possible her eldest son, who played the biggest role in Queen Charlotte, could eventually appear in Bridgerton. While there isn’t much more information offered about their whereabouts, it’s likely that most, if not all, of her children are married.
2. Lady Danbury’s Maid Coral
Coral played a significant role in Queen Charlotte. She was one of the many servants on the show opinion whose was heard, and who offered advice, support, and gossip to Lady Danbury. However, in Bridgerton, Coral is seemingly no longer a part of Lady Danbury’s household. It’s possible that at some point in the years following Queen Charlotte, Coral left to work in another household. She was close with Lady Danbury, and it’s doubtful she would fire Coral from her duties. While it’s unclear where Coral is as of Bridgerton’s era, it’s nice to think she is retired and living a decent life elsewhere.
1. Lord Bute
Lord Bute, then the Prime Minister of Britain, works alongside Princess Augusta and parliament to ensure political matters are smooth. He’s very much a part of the decision-making process and a seemingly important person within the royal sphere.
