The seventh season of FBI is racing at an extraordinary pace towards the finish line, as the season finale now feels closer than ever. Last night, Episode 19, “Partner,” saw Dani Rhodes (Emily Alabi) and Scola (John Boyd) take on the unenviable job of tracking down the kidnappers of a young girl, only for this to evolve into a widespread conspiracy that revealed the kidnappers used her as a pawn in a large heist. For Dani and Scola, this marked another step in their journey as partners, as the former continues to get to grips with her place in the team.
After such an explosive episode, thoughts immediately turn to Episode 20, “Startup,” with the sneak peek of the episode available to watch below, promising an explosive, action-packed, and culturally relevant case to solve. With just two episodes left, “Startup” will mark the penultimate case in FBI’s seventh season, with the team facing a challenge much tougher and newer than they have perhaps faced before: AI. “How are we supposed to stop a rogue AI?” Maggie (Missy Peregrym) asks toward the end of the promo, before a huge explosion destroys a store and suggests that the team have their work cut out.
With a promo this enticing, the millions of FBI fans will likely be counting down the days until they can continue their Tuesday night routine of indulging in the chaos of the FBI franchise. Alas, there is bad news attached to the upcoming Season 7, Episode 20, as it will air following a short, and final, hiatus. Although the expectation might be for Episode 20 to air on Tuesday, April 29, it’s time to adapt your calendars and mark down Tuesday, May 6, as the official air date for “Startup”. Thankfully, this marks the final break before the finale of the Dick Wolf series’ seventh outing.
We Already Know What the ‘FBI’ Season 7 Finale Is About
Because of the short break between Episodes 19 and 20, the upcoming FBI Season 7 outing has no official synopsis, leaving the sneak peek above to be the only clue as to what the episode might include. However, there is instead a synopsis for the upcoming finale set for a Tuesday, May 20, release, which gives some clues as to what the episodes leading up to it will involve. “After Jubal narrowly escapes a calculated assault on a secret FBI office, the team discovers a rogue terrorist group has infiltrated the FBI,” the synopsis begins, sparking doubt over the safety of Jeremy Sisto’s character. It continues, “Unsure of who to trust, the team must work in the shadows to unmask the culprits threatening the sanctity of the New York field office.” Once this finale has aired, fear not, as FBI is confirmed to be returning for not just an eighth, but also a ninth season, with the franchise’s flagship show destined to outlive its spinoffs.
