Ahead of New Romantic Spin-Off Series, This Long-Running Crime Drama Is a Streaming Hit

The NCIS franchise is the world’s largest TV franchise. It has seen numerous spin-offs over the years, and Paramount is not done with it just yet. A new spin-off focusing on fan-favorite characters Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) debuts next month. However, the flagship series remains a fan-favorite, regularly appearing on Paramount+’s list of top ten most-watched shows. The show is currently #7 on the highly competitive list, which features other cultural juggernauts like South Park, Blue Bloods, and Dexter. The naval crime procedural is especially popular in Central and South America. Meanwhile, fans are set to reunite with Tony and Ziva in the upcoming sequel titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Its official logline reads:

NCIS: Tony & Ziva picks up after Ziva’s supposed death when Tony left the NCIS team to go raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, leading her to complete one final mission with NCIS before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris. Since then—and where we find them in NCIS: Tony & Ziva — Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them, and maybe even learn to trust each other again so they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.

Prepare for ‘NCIS’ Season 23

As past seasons continue to keep subscribers busy, the cast is also busy filming the twenty-third season. The show returns with some changes in the schedule, where CBS has created an entire NCIS night beginning this fall. The new “NCIS Tuesdays” start on October 14 when the mothership kicks off at 8 p.m. ET, followed by NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney at 10 p.m. ET. NCIS: Tony & Ziva is not on the schedule because it’s made for streaming and will premiere a month earlier. Speaking after the explosive NCIS Season 22 finale, showrunner Steven D. Binder said in an interview that the next season will be largely character-centric:

“We really want to get to everybody in a big way. I know people always say, ‘I watch the show for the characters’ — that was always our thing — and I really want to make this a character-forward show in a way we haven’t seen before. So, if you’re invested in these people, this is going to be the season for you.”

Watch NCIS on Paramount+ before Season 23. NCIS: Tony & Ziva premieres on Thursday, September 4, with the first three episodes. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
