After more than a decade playing G. Callen on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” Chris O’Donnell is beginning a new chapter with the upcoming series “9-1-1 Nashville.”
The actor stars as Captain Dan Hart, a tough firefighter at the center of the show’s high-stakes rescues.
The role also required O’Donnell to move to Nashville, a city he had never visited before.
He told Extra that while leaving Los Angeles after 14 years was a big adjustment, the change brought a sense of excitement.
“Sometimes a new environment can bring new energy,” he explained.
The move also came after a difficult year for his family. Their Pacific Palisades home was affected by wildfires, forcing them to relocate for several months while repairs were underway.
As he adjusted to life in Nashville, O’Donnell had the benefit of a local guide: his co-star LeAnn Rimes.
He said it was enjoyable exploring the city alongside the country music star.
In addition to firefighting scenes, O’Donnell’s character is also involved in rodeo riding, something the actor admitted he had very little experience with before taking the role.
