After movie franchise star Hero Fiennes Tiffin has landed his next lead movie role in an Irish thriller titled Mr. Smith.
Directed by Miss Scarlett And The Duke’s Declan O’Dwyer and based on his previously titled screenplay Broken Cove, Mr. Smith is set to begin production in Ireland in February 2024 (via Screen Daily).
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince star Fiennes Tiffin will take on the titular role of Mr Smith, a man who returns to Broken Cove, a whiskey-soaked Irish port in search of his brother’s murderer.
When Smith’s brother leaves him a list of names, Smith violently navigates the lurid underbelly of the community, reigniting a family feud in the process.
After the body of a young woman, whose name is also on Smith’s list, is found washed up in the local dam, the town sheriff is forced to investigate and intervene knowing that Smith is hell-bent on revenge.
As the dark history of his family is uncovered, Smith soon learns that the sadistic murder of his brother was all part of a plan to lure him back to Broken Cove.
RubyRock Pictures’ Zoe Rocha is on board to produce the project while Fiennes Tiffin, Fortitude International’s Nadine de Barros and Vybe Tribe’s Joey Stanton will serve as executive producers.
Speaking of the upcoming project, director O’Dwyer, who describes the lead character of Mr. Smith as an “anti-hero”, said he was excited to return to Ireland to film.
“I am excited to join forces with Fortitude, RubyRock, Joey Stanton and Hero, to bring the anti-hero Mr. Smith to life. And thrilled to be returning to Ireland to lens this authentic, visceral and personal story,” he said.
Further casting for the project is currently underway.
