Ellen Pompeo – CONFIRMED ALIVE + DEAL IN PLACE FOR SEASON 22
Ellen Pompeo began taking a decreased presence on Grey’s starting in season 20 and she’ll likely continue with that trend for the 22nd season.
Deadline reports that Ellen will continue as executive producer in season 22 and she’s “expected” to appear again as Meredith Grey.
Showrunner Meg Marinis confirmed that Meredith is alive after that explosion.
Jason George – CONFIRMED ALIVE FOR SEASON 22
Jason George‘s Warren is confirmed to be safe following the explosion, though he did run back to the building after seeing it explode.
“We did see Warren running back into the building [from outside]. We saw Jo outside the building, but we didn’t see her leave, so it just depends on what exit she took, I guess,” Meg told THR.
She also told Variety, “He was outside the hospital when that explosion went off, so we know he’s alive. But he doesn’t have a job, so he’s going through an emotional explosion. What we wanted to see for him coming back was that it wasn’t going to be as easy as he assumed, and also the difficulty of having to work side-by-side with your wife who is in a position of authority over you. I think they were able to navigate that fairly well. There were a few bumps in the road, but we wanted to tell a story where Ben did not want to ask for special treatment from Bailey.”

Former grown-ish star Trevor Jackson landed a “sought after” role on the ABC drama that could lead to a series regular opportunity in season 22.
He’s playing “handsome, intelligent, but arrogant man in his late 20s who has just moved to Seattle.” He first appeared in the May 8 episode, which was the second to last episode of the season.
Simone hooked up with the stranger after being dumped by Lucas and now the man is a new intern at Grey Sloan.
