After Everything: Release date, cast, trailer and more
After fans, get excited as a fifth film is officially here! Following on from the four existing movies, Hardin and Tessa are back on our screens in a surprise installation titled After Everything.
Based on the books by Anna Todd – which started life as Harry Styles fan fiction – the series is made up of four films: After (2019), After We Collided (2020), After We Fell (2021) and After Ever Happy.
As there are only four books in the franchise (plus the prequel, Before), news of a fifth film came as a surprise for fans. So, from the release date to cast and more, here’s what we know about After Everything.
When will After Everything be released on Prime Video?
The final installation of the After series was available to watch in US cinemas from 13th September, but the UK had to wait a little longer before we could watch the film.
The good news is, After Everything is finally out and available to stream in the UK! It was released on Prime Video on 3rd October 2023.
In the teaser, Harden is an author in London who is trying to work on his new book. He goes to Lisbon to see Natalie Kingsley (played by Mimi Webb), a girl from his past who he used to win a bet, as well as actor Benjamin Mascolo, a mysterious enemy.
We then see him spending time with Tessa, telling him he’s not ready to move on, and then there’s an altar! And a wedding! Could this mean what we think it means?
When was After 5: After Everything confirmed?
We got news straight from the horse’s mouth, with Hardin actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin sharing details via a video posted to the official After Twitter account on 24th August 2022. And even better: Hero also confirmed that the movie has already finished filming!
He told fans, “I am so excited to finally share some massive news with you all. We have just wrapped filming on the fifth After movie. I can’t tell you too much about it just yet, but I can tell you that it will be called After Everything and I cannot wait for you all to see it.”
Who will star in After Everything?
Hero’s announcement serves as confirmation of his return for After Everything, while co-star Josephine Langford (Tessa) was also tagged in the announcement on Instagram. Of course, After wouldn’t be anything without Hessa, so having Hero and Josephine back is to be expected.
But fans were still a bit confused over Josephine Langsford’s role in the movie, as she barely appears in the trailer, and much of the focus is on Harden and Natalie’s past.
Meanwhile, the new trailer for After Everything reveals Mimi Keene from Sex Education has joined the cast as Natalie, someone from Harden’s past who has moved to Lisbon.
What will After Everything be about?
The first four After films were all pretty well-aligned with Anna Todd’s corresponding novels of the same names. However, After Ever Happy (number four) is where the book series ends, meaning After Everything won’t be based on one release in particular .
Still, we very much expect After Everything to continue Hessa’s story, with fans are hoping we’ll get a glimpse into Hardin and Tessa’s future too.
There is, of course, another book that’s yet to be turned into a film and that’s the series prequel, Before. Fingers crossed we’ll see a Before adaptation too, then!
