After being cancelled three times in a row, CBS‘s hit cop show will finally have a streaming home, promising an even wider reach after its ending. CBS has had its fair share of cancelled crime TV series over the years, including those focused on police. One prime example is the ending of Blue Bloods, with season 14 ending the show.
However, their most notable cancelled series is S.W.A.T. The Shemar Moore-led action drama was originally cancelled after season 6, before a campaign led by Moore led to season 7 getting produced. Though intended as the final season, season 8 was picked up because of its success. Unfortunately, S.W.A.T. ended with season 8 due to dwindling viewership, getting cancelled once again.
Now, Netflix has confirmed that S.W.A.T. season 8 will be arriving on the streamer on Monday, September 15, finally giving the cancelled cop show a large-scale streaming home. The upcoming episodes will join the previous seven seasons, which are currently available to watch on Netflix. This means the whole series will soon be viewable on the popular platform.
What S.W.A.T. Season 8 Coming To Netflix Means For The Series
S.W.A.T. season 8’s Netflix release news means the series will soon be complete on the platform. As of writing, the only other streamer to watch every season of the show is Paramount+. Luckily, despite being one of many TV shows cancelled in 2025, this new streaming release will broaden the reach of the last episodes to a much bigger platform.
As of writing, there have been no definitive production updates on S.W.A.T. Exiles.
Our Take On S.W.A.T. Season 8 Coming To Netflix
While the entire series is currently viewable on Paramount+, S.W.A.T. has also been on Netflix for quite some time. Because of how much farther a reach the streamer has than its competitors, the cancelled series’ arrival on the platform will no doubt put plenty of new eyes on the final season. Its long-term effects for the show, however, remain unclear.
Given how many times it was cancelled and uncancelled by CBS, it’s unfortunately very unlikely that S.W.A.T. seeing renewed interest on Netflix will make season 9 a reality. Even so, the series’ legacy will live on when it comes to the streaming platform, giving it a broader audience that can further its popularity, even after its final curtain call.
