Paris Olympics silver medallist Adam Peaty opened up about his girlfriend Holly Ramsay’s “huge” role in hosting Team GB’s hungry swimmers and making them breakfast
Adam Peaty revealed his girlfriend Holly has followed in her chef dad Gordon Ramsay’s footsteps by cooking for Team GB’s swimmers at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Three-time Olympic gold medallist Peaty, 29, added a silver to his collection by coming second in the 100m breaststroke event on Sunday, July 28. In the stands cheering him on all the way was Holly Ramsay, 24, who was seen embracing him at the end of the emotional race.
Following his latest achievement, Peaty joined Mark Wright at Team GB House in the Heart Studios, where he explained how Holly was pivotal behind the scenes in preparing his meals “every day” while he trained for the Games. And she appears to have picked up her eight Michelin star father’s skill of cooking for large groups.
Radio host Wright said: “Your girlfriend is Holly Ramsay, daughter of Gordon Ramsay. How often does she cook your meals for you?”
Peaty responded: “Everyday. I’ve learned, I actually lost the will to cook but I’ve learned the skill to cook now. Yeah she’s absolutely brilliant. She has the team round, we have team breakfasts.”
Wright then quizzed: “So she’ll cook for the whole team?” leading the swimmer to reply: “Yeah yeah, and she’s been absolutely just so, so brilliant and part of these performances.
“We always look at these athletes at face value but it’s the people behind these athletes that really are doing the job and she’s a huge part of it.”
Adam and Holly began dating in May 2023 and went public with their relationship one month later. They unveiled matching tattoo tributes to one another that December.
While Peaty and his potential future father-in-law have found success in very different professions, he recently admitted he shares a key trait with chef Ramsay. He claimed he suffers from a ‘red mist’ of fury in the minutes leading up to a major race – not dissimilar to the foul-mouthed Ramsay, who even has his own show called ‘The F word’.
Talking to Ramsay on the BBC, Peaty confessed: “If anything, I’m trying to calm myself down because I’m too excited, playlist, stretching [or] thinking of happy moments with Holly, George, my mum and dad.
“So flooding the mind with optimism and hope until 10 minutes before that race and that’s when I see red mist and that’s when I start to get really angry.”
