Adam Peaty makes touching Holly Ramsay comment as dad Gordon gives him ‘seal of approval’

Adam Peaty has praised the impact of his partner Holly Ramsay at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Adam Peaty has described partner Holly Ramsay as a ‘huge part of’ the success of the Team GB Olympic swimming team. The daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay routinely cooks for the athletes in the camp.

Peaty and Ramsay met after the British swimming legend took part in the Strictly Come Dancing series with the latter’s sister, Tilly, in 2021. They went public with their relationship in 2023, ahead of the Uttoxeter-born athlete’s third appearance at the Olympic Games.

Explaining the importance of Ramsay’s presence in the camp in Paris, Peaty told Heart: “[She cooks for me] every day. I’ve learned, I actually lost the will to cook but I’ve learned the skill to cook now. Yeah, she’s absolutely brilliant. She has the team round, we have team breakfasts.”

He added: “She’s been absolutely, just so so brilliant and part of these performances, we always look at these athletes as face value, but it’s the people behind these athletes that really are doing the job and she’s a huge part of it.”

Peaty’s comments will no doubt go down well with his partner’s father, who is already known to be a big fan of the three-time Olympic gold medal winner. Earlier this year, OK! magazine reported: “Gordon really approves of Adam, he’s definitely got the Ramsay seal of approval!

“Gordon is actually a former footballer himself, he’s good friends with the Beckhams, and he really appreciates all the sacrifices and training that a top sportsman like Adam puts into his career.”

A report from Birmingham Live added: “He really likes Adam, how he treats Holly and is ready to give his blessing if he proposes to his daughter, which is seeming very likely. He would love the Olympian to be part of the family.”

While the legendary TV chef reportedly respects his potential future son-in-law’s Olympian status, he will need to savour it, as Peaty hinted following a difficult Paris 2024 programme that he is considering retiring from the sport.

“If my heart wants it, my heart wants it, and I’ll absolutely sign that contract with myself to do it,” he said after missing out on victory in the men’s 4x100m medley relay race. “Maybe a long way away. But I think I’ve got to step away from the sport, really, because it’s just hurt too much this time. It really has.”
