A Sudden Exit Rocks ‘FBI’ — The Team Faces a New Case Without One of Their Own md11

FBI has seen some major character shifts in season 8. The season premiere had the team fighting a deadly militia, during which agent Dani Rhodes (Emily Alibi) took a bullet. At first seeming okay, Dani ended up dying of her wounds.

Meanwhile, Isobel was revealed to have survived her poisoning health scare in the season 7 finale and by episode 3 was back in charge of things. We also met Dani’s replacement, Eva Ramos (Juliana Aidén Martinez) who became Scola’s new partner.

Just when it looked like the series was settling down in casting, however, episode 4 had another shake-up although hopefully this one isn’t as huge!

What happened to OA in FBI season 8 episode 4?

FBI season 8 episode 4 had OA and Maggie hunting for who had broken into the home of a U.S. senator, killed her husband and tried to kill her. They suspected it was a crazed man upset about the senator voting on a critical health care bill. They believed they caught the gunman only to discover he was being framed.

OA and Maggie accompanied the Senator on a plane to Washington D.C. for the vote. But halfway through the flight, they found the Senator dead in the bathroom from a toxin. The agents had to play a classic locked room mystery to figure out who on the plane was the killer.

The solution came in the worst way when OA broke up a scuffle between a young man and an older passenger, grabbing the latter’s cane. OA then collapsed, with Maggie realizing the Senator had also touched the cane, which carried the toxin. Turns out the “old man” was a professional assassin in disguise.

Maggie knew the guy wouldn’t be carrying around this cane unless he had an antidote to the toxin. She threatened him at gunpoint with the man (only known as “Oslo”) giving up the antidote, which Maggie used on OA.

Maggie was naturally upset that the Justice Department was willing to cut Oslo a deal in exchange for his information on numerous jobs he’d done and who’d hired him. Jubal had deduced that his employer here was a supposed ally of the Senator who was really trying to quash the bill for threatening a chemical company he was part of. Oslo had already taken him out.

Scola and Ramos were driving Oslo to a meeting place when their convoy was attacked by gunmen who killed several agents. Maggie visited OA in the hospital to break the news Oslo had escaped with OA vowing they would find him.

When does OA come back to FBI?

It appears that OA’s condition is a temporary storytelling move to keep Zeeko Zaki away for a bit. FBI does have a tendency to give some characters an episode or two off in order to help keep the show’s budget low. As OA going missing would be tricky, having him explained as still recovering from the toxin is a good answer.

The preview for episode 5, airing on Tuesday, Nov. 10, shows OA is still potentially absent, and Maggie will team up with Eva to hunt a killer stabbing seemingly random people in New York. The images for episode 6, airing on Tuesday, Nov. 17, show OA back on the job with Maggie, proving he’ll be returning quickly, although perhaps still with some after effects of his ordeal.

So FBI fans will have to be without OA for an episode but he’ll be back quick and likely joining in the hunt for his would-be killer on FBI!
