A Special Addition Joins ‘Chicago Fire’s Firehouse 51 in New Season 13 Images

Spooky 13 is the theme of Chicago Fire Season 13 as ghosts from the past for several characters, according to showrunner Andrea Newman. Sam Carver went to Texas to find his ghost and bring it back. But in Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 7, Carver finds himself alone again as Tori disappears with all her stuff. However, this situation might not prevail for long, according to some new images released by NBC from Episode 8, “Quicksand.” As teased by the logline for the episode below, the images preview Carver’s new friend, a dog he assumes responsibility for after the owner gets injured.

“Herrmann and Mouch prepare to take their officer exams; Cruz receives a chilling omen; Carver takes care of a dog after its owner is injured on a call.”

Carver Finds a New Companion in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 13, Episode 8.

Most of the images above show the firehouse responding to an emergency where a machine injures a man. It seems as if his leg is caught inside a lawn mower, which is a dangerous place for anything that is not grass to be caught in. Several images show the first responders sharing knowing looks of concern. The victim also has a dog, which takes to Carver, as an image shows Carver petting it. The final image featuring the dog shows him in the firehouse, where Carver has taken responsibility for it.

Dogs are typically used to provide companionship for lonely characters. It is usually a plot device that makes them realize their loneliness. If there is anyone who can use a companion, it is Carver. With Tori in the wind and his relationship with Violet fractured, there are not many people Carver can rely on. His family is in Texas, and even if they lived close, he wouldn’t want much to do with them, given how they’d treated him in the past.

Other images from inside the firehouse feature Joe, who is being revisited by ghosts from his past per the teaser of the Fall finale. He holds an unused bullet as she shows it to someone who looks like Cap. He does not appear shocked; he is more puzzled, hinting that he might know from whom it came. Given the rehash of his past with Leon and how his brother was involved with gangs, one might have circled back for a favor or two.

Tune in to “Quicksand” to see how Carver’s story with the dog plays out and learn who is threatening Joe. The episode airs on NBC on Wednesday, November 20. Stream past episodes on Peacock.
